CHARGERS TO SIT OUT 2008; SET TO RETURN IN 2009!
The Eugene Chargers announced recently they would sit out the 2008 IBL season to re-organize .

The team was returned to the original owners after the team's second year owner was unable to continue. It is expected local ownership can be found for the '09 campaign!

The IBL does have a double header scheduled for Tuesday May 27th with a location for the contest to be announced.

CHARGERS DOWN EVERETT EVEN RECORD AT 8-8!
Coming back from a tough OT loss at Central Oregon the night before, the Eugene Chargers came back from as many as 15 down on Saturday night to defeat the Everett Explosion 109-102 at the Morse Events Center on the Northwest Christian College Campus.

Former Oregon Duck Andre Joseph connected for 23 points and former Ducks Jay Anderson and Adam Zahn added 17 and 10 points respectively. "The Beast" Easterling added 17 points and Solomon Yearby added 16 himself. Pictures from the big comeback win are available here!

CHARGERS FINALLY GET ROAD WIN
After a great win against the Portland Chinooks at home (pictures available here). The Chargers headed out on the road. After three tough, hard fought loses, the Chargers were finally rewarded with a win for their efforts by downing Tri Valley 133-124.

Eugene had lost to the same Tri-Valley team 132-123 just two days before. The Chargers will return home on June 9th against Tacoma after one more road game against Central Oregon on June 8th.

CHARGERS SPLIT HOME AND HOME WITH HOTSHOTS!
The Eugene Chargers beat the Chico Force and Vancouver Volcanoes before their home and home series with Central Oregon. Usually a split with a team on a home and home isn't that bad, but one would expect the teams to win their respective home games. That wasn't the case with the Chargers and Hotshots.

Eugene won the first game handily ay Central Oregon 153-129 only to come home and lose a 10 point 4th quarter lead and drop the second game 147-143 in a very exciting contest.

Friday night saw the return of Rodrick Stevenson as he scored a team high 30 points. Lamar Harris (28 pts), Solomon Yearby (27 pts), Adam Zahn (26 pts) and Charles Easterling (24 pts) all hit the 24 point margin in the win.

Saturday's star for Central Oregon was Arthur Lewis who threw in a game high 34 points, 13 of which came in the Hotshots 4th quarter comeback. Lamar Harris, who wears Bo Colas's old number, 36, threw in some Colas numbers with 25 points and 22 rebounds. Meanwhile "The Beast" Charles Easterling added another 22 points and 16 boards in the Charger loss.

Eugene falls to 4-2 on the year, good enough for third in the Southwest Division. Eugene moves on to play at Everett on May 8th before returning home May 11th against the Tacoma Jazz. Pictures from Saturday's tough loss to Central Oregon are available here!
A video highlite of a Lamar Harris rebound then dunk is available here (you will need a "Quicktime" viewer to watch this-about 3.6MB)!

CHARGERS GET FIRST WIN OF SEASON!
After a tough opening night loss the Eugene Chargers came back fired up Saturday night against the Tacoma Jazz and won officially 118-108! Eugene was up by as many as 25 before letting the lead slip in the 4th quarter. Pictures from the victory can be seen here!

SALEM DOWNS CHARGERS IN SEASON OPENER!
The Chargers came out strong, but just couldn't get it done in the season opener against Salem Friday night. Losing 141 to 129. Local fans enjoyed the play of Adam Zahn. The team showed a lot of potnetial tonight, with players showing hustle and a willingness to dive after loose basketballs.
Pictures from the season opener are available here!

CHARGERS 2007 SCHEDULE OUT!
This page will be updated in the next month or so (January/February 2007). Please visit the team's IBL page (link to left) for the anticipated 2007 schedule. Although I will be taking down the brief recaps from last year the pictures from the Inaugural season will still be available, as will the results. Thanks for visiting.

CHARGERS FINISH SEASON IN THIRD PLACE
The Eugene Chargers finished a successfull inaugural season splitting their final four road games, winning two against Colorado but losing two to Aurora, a team that would tie the Chargers at 13-7.

Larry Morinia finshed 9th in league scoring with a 24.8 ppg average and Bo Colas finished 18th with a 22.6 ppg average.

As mentioned in the last home game article below, Morinia, Colas and JR Patrick will participate in the IBL All-Star game in Elkhart, Indiana on July 15th.

A very big thanks to the Chargers organization for bringing the team to Eugene. Basketball fans from the area appreciated the great play and eagerly anticipate next season.
